Flower: Michelia

This Michelia Champaca (or Chempaka in Malay) is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the Magnolia family (Magnoliaceae) and is native to tropical and subtropical south and southeast Asia (Indomalaya), including southern China. The genus is named after the Florentine botanist Pietro Antonio Micheli. Michelia is also used to produce an essential oil for perfume.

We have this plant for over 4 years now and this is the first time it produces flowers.

Flower: Lantana

This is a photo of Lantana flower that I took when I was visiting my grandparents grave last week. I think Lantana is more of a wild flower as it grows in the bushes. The colors attracted me and the fact that a cluster of the flower is made up of few small flowers amazed me. The outer circle has petals while the inner ones are more like ribbons. Did you noticed that? This flower reminds me so much of synchronised swimming routine. Indeed an amazing flower despite its stinky smell. The leaves are somewhat poisonous to most animals, while their berries are edible when ripe though like many fruit are mildly poisonous if eaten while still green. I've tasted them berries, was sweet and nice!

Roses are white too

Close-up of stamens. A stamen is made up of anther and filament. See the orangy seeds? They're anthers; the filaments are the ones that were holding up the anthers.

It has been raining all week and today morning I was surprised with a beautiful sight when I opened the door. The rain lilies were blooming in our garden!

Flower: Deep Pink Rose

More roses from the garden. Love, love, love the deep pink color.

Each rose color has its own unique meaning. Deep Pink simply means "thank you". If someone you know does something nice for you, a deep pink rose is a good way of saying "thank you".

Flower: Rain Lily

Rain Lily is also known as Fairy Lily. The name "rain lily" comes from its tendency to send up flushes of flowers few days after a soaking rain. Its slender green leaves will stick around even after the short-lived flowers wither.

Flower is from my mom's garden.

Flower: Roses are pink and yellow too...

They're just buds a week ago.

A rose is a perennial shrub or vine of the genus Rosa, within the family rosaceae, that contains over 100 species and probably have sub-levels in between. Thus, it's very hard to narrow down the exact names. Most are native to Asia, with smaller numbers of species native to Europe, North America, and northwest Africa.
